A week ago today I found out that my older brother Jason passed away. There are no words to describe the feelings and emotions that surface when someone you love is suddenly gone.

I have been reflecting a lot on memories with him, and yesterday I realized that Jason is the one who taught me how to brush my teeth. When I was little, my dad used to give a quarter to the 1st one ready for bed at night. Needless to say, I would usually brush my teeth for a good 5-10 seconds :)

By the time I was 8 or 9, I became self conscious about my teeth not looking very good. Jason took me to the bathroom and spent a good 10-15 minutes teaching me how to brush my teeth the right way. I remember staying in the bathroom brushing my teeth over and over again, practicing technique, and timing myself to make sure I was brushing long enough.

When I turned 16, Jason spent a lot of time with me in his Toyota Corolla, teaching me how to drive a stick shift. I remember him laughing when It took one too many tries to go uphill, but he always believed in me that I could do it.

And that was Jason. He took advantage of every moment of his life. He was never in a rush to get to the next person, or the next thing. He truly lived in the moment, and loved everyone to the fullest extent. I love him and miss him so much.
