Purpose

The Jason Harmon Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the life and legacy of Mr. Harmon. In Mr. Harmon’s own words:

“My life is dedicated to my Heavenly Father, my family, my community, and the world.  I know that although my sphere of influence is small, I can affect the one.  I love everyone, and express that love and concern often through specific praise and feedback.  My life legacy is built on the lives I have touched, the memories I have shared with others, and the selfless service I have given.”

In honor of Mr. Harmon’s life and his dedication to the people around him, the Harmon Family is extending the opportunity for two $500 scholarships to current high school seniors and graduates of Guernsey Sunrise High School currently pursuing completion of a bachelor’s degree

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for a Jason Harmon Memorial Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Be enrolled full time as a senior in Guernsey Sunrise High School or be a graduate of Guernsey Sunrise High School currently enrolled in an institution of higher education
• Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited institution
• Display evidence of using talent to make the world a better place
• Demonstrate the ability to see the good in others and instilling a desire in them to want to be better and live up to their potential

Requirements

Applicants will be required to submit:

1. Academic achievements and involvement in extracurricular activities
2. A copy of current unofficial academic transcript
3. A reference
4. A 250 - 500 word essay displaying evidence of how you have used your talents and abilities to make your community a better place
5. A 250 - 500 word essay demonstrating your ability to see the good in others and instill a desire in them to be better and live up to their potential
